Welcome to CollectorsTrader!
Introduction
Hi, I'm Sergi Luna, the creator of ColllectorsTrader. Although we refer to us in plural on the website, I'm currently the only person behind the project. I created this platform with the goal of offering Pokémon TCG collectors a way to sell their items directly to a "professional" site.
In my experience, while selling on today's marketplaces can be more profitable for the seller, the disparity in opinions about the condition of cards and the rise of counterfeits often complicate the experience for both the buyer and the seller.
The idea behind the project
ColllectorsTrader seeks to replicate a model already in place at many TCG specialty stores in the United States, where sellers receive a percentage of the market price in exchange for instant cash.
I intend to do the same, but offering variable percentages . These percentages will depend on two factors:
- The market price of the card, that is, an average of recent sales.
- Your liquidity , that is, the number of sales that have been made in the last 90 days.
With this approach, the goal is to offer more competitive and fair prices for sellers.
What cards can be sold?
To simplify the initial appraisal process, only English-language cards with a market value of €10 or higher will be accepted. I believe selling a card for less than €10 isn't worth the seller's effort, as they would receive a low bid and incur shipping costs of between €2 and €6.
The maximum value accepted per card will depend on the capital available at the time of the request. If my capital is limited due to having accepted other offers, I may be forced to reject high-value requests.
Why should the seller pay for shipping?
While it would be more convenient for the seller to have free shipping, this measure could lead to cards being sent in different conditions than those declared in order to obtain more money, which would represent a great loss for me.
Having the seller pay for shipping encourages greater commitment to accurately declaring the card's condition. Additionally, an experienced seller can choose their preferred shipping method. In the future, I would like to include integrated shipping options on the page to make the process easier, while still offering the seller the freedom to choose.
Fight against counterfeiting
With this platform, we also aim to combat counterfeiting. In Spain, the problem of counterfeit cards is evident on platforms like Wallapop. Therefore, we have created a section to inform collectors, especially new ones, on how to identify counterfeit cards.
Under intellectual property regulations, any forged letters we receive cannot be returned. I realize this policy may be controversial. However, if, after a seller verifies the authenticity of their card and I accept the request, it turns out to be a fake, this would mean it's a very high-quality replica intended to defraud. In such a case, the card would deserve to be removed from the market to protect the community.
Suggestions and feedback
Since this is an experimental but fully functional project, I'm open to suggestions and feedback. I invite you to try submitting a request, receiving an offer, and letting me know what you think via the contact form, comments, or the project's social media channels.
Thank you for your interest!
